How to Choose Fursuit Fur
Fur choice affects how your character reads visually and how the suit feels to wear. A few things worth knowing before you pick.
Pile length
Short-pile fur gives a cleaner, more toony look and is easier to keep neat. Long-pile fur reads as softer and more realistic but mats more easily and needs more brushing.
Color matching
Faux fur comes pre-dyed in a wide range of colors, but exact character colors are often achieved by hand-dyeing or airbrushing on top of a base fur. If your character has a very specific or unusual color, expect some back-and-forth to get it right - see our FAQ for more on color matching.
Comfort considerations
Denser, longer fur traps more heat. If you're building a suit for a hot climate or long wear, ask about shorter pile or breathable panel options when you request your quote.
